tele skiing is something that I've always been interested in... but too nervous to try, fearing I'd tear an acl or something and have to stop running. I need to get out there and try it....

btw - brad w/ dreads. great info.

At first I was thinking, "What? Skating in winter?" But then I remembered that whole south-of-the-Equator thing. ;-) Is ski season coming soon?

No skiing here, heading for 38 C on Saturday ! The Nokia app is pretty cool, once your signed up there is a Latest link that shows all the latest uploads and it's quite fun trying to work out where they are. It even has a live update option where it will log as you are out. I haven't tried it here as our data rates are way to $$$, but it's quite fun seeing where these random people are. I figure I'll give it a try once I sort out a better data option or maybe on my ski trip to the States in Feb I'll give it ago if I sign up for some data access.

We've just bought into the lodge after staying there last winter so just a visit to scope things out and hopefully get a few rides in. I've forgotten the pump for my mountains bikes air shock so I might have to stick to the road.

Aren't Goooooogle map applications just great? I had no idea that you were even in Oz in the first place, and when I clicked on the Nokia map link, was still none the wiser. So I played the lets-zoom-out-one-level-at-a-time-till-we-can-see-where-he-is game. I got some clues fairly early on, and was pretty certain, when Wagga Wagga became visible . . . but not 100% confident 'till the coastline was on the map.

So anyway . . . what's the skiing like there at this time of year - is it up on a glacier, or are you just heading up to the lodge for the cycling?

Well, yeah .. but I was swimming through out winter, well at least once a wee or so. It is an outside pool too ! Actually, after last weeks swim, I prefer winter as it's way to busy when it's 35 C outside ! Just about to head up for this weeks swim so I'd better post last weeks.

Jelly quads were always my biggest problem downhill skiing. I'd get going carving nice turns, get going faster and faster and have to put more into the turns to keep the speed roughly in control and then BURN BURN BURN and I'd have to pull up to rest. Never got to the point I could really do a 1000 or 2000 ft run without stopping for the jelly quads.

Sounds wonderful. It's a little odd being here in Whistler/Blackcomb with all of these ski lifts taking Mtn Bikes up the mountain and reading about you skiing.
