Short ride in Albury
26 12 2007Back again !
We’re up at my In-Laws up in Albury on a roundabout, 2 weeks of vacation. A week here, a couple of days camping, a couple more days camping and then up to our ski lodge. I’ve brought along my road bike and mountain bike to attempt to get a bit of exercise in. Had a short ride over to my brother-in-laws place, it was pretty hot but nice to be out. I’ve been running the Nokia Sportstracker software on my N95, so check out the track of the ride here … I’ll add the data out of the heart rate monitor soon too !

Welcome back!
Aren’t Goooooogle map applications just great? I had no idea that you were even in Oz in the first place, and when I clicked on the Nokia map link, was still none the wiser. So I played the lets-zoom-out-one-level-at-a-time-till-we-can-see-where-he-is game. I got some clues fairly early on, and was pretty certain, when Wagga Wagga became visible . . . but not 100% confident ’till the coastline was on the map.
So anyway . . . what’s the skiing like there at this time of year - is it up on a glacier, or are you just heading up to the lodge for the cycling?
No skiing here, heading for 38 C on Saturday ! The Nokia app is pretty cool, once your signed up there is a Latest link that shows all the latest uploads and it’s quite fun trying to work out where they are. It even has a live update option where it will log as you are out. I haven’t tried it here as our data rates are way to $$$, but it’s quite fun seeing where these random people are. I figure I’ll give it a try once I sort out a better data option or maybe on my ski trip to the States in Feb I’ll give it ago if I sign up for some data access.
We’ve just bought into the lodge after staying there last winter so just a visit to scope things out and hopefully get a few rides in. I’ve forgotten the pump for my mountains bikes air shock so I might have to stick to the road.
